AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run 2024

What’s happening?

The Great Birmingham Run 10k and Birmingham Half Marathon will be taking place Sunday 5th May 2024.

The route will take in a number of landmarks across the city with road closures in place throughout the day.

You will still be able to get to where you need to go but you'll need to plan ahead and allow more time for your journey with diversions in place.

Bus, Metro and Rail impact

Bus:  


National Express West Midlands bus services 1, 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 7, 8A/C, 9, 12/A, 13/A, 16, 17, 23, 24, 35, 45, 47, 50, 52, 60, 80, 82, 87, 97, 101, X1, X2, X8, X10  will be subject to diversion and bus stop changes from the start of service until the routes will re-open on 5th May. Diamond 16A bus service will also be following the dedicated diversion route.  


Rail:  


Rail engineering works will take place between Coventry and Birmingham New Street impacting rail services. Rail replacement bus services will be in place from Coventry Station to Birmingham International.


Metro:  


Metro will operate between Wolverhampton and Wednesbury Great Western Street only. There will be no service from Wednesbury  Great Western Street to Edgbaston.

Travel Advice

Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey to take account of road closures and diversions


If you are travelling in the area by bus, plan ahead and leave more time for your journey as your journey might be impacted by the diversion route and bus stop change. You can plan your journey using our Journey Planner.


If your travel is impacted by rail engineering work and rail replacement bus service, please visit National Rail for latest information.


If your journey is impacted by Metro closure, alternative ticket acceptance is in place. For more information, please visit: tram works.
