Eastside Birmingham City Centre

Ends: ongoing

Last updated: 5 December 2024

What’s happening?

The Eastside of Birmingham City Centre is set to be transformed through a multimillion pound regeneration project, led by Birmingham City Council, to improve housing, office and leisure space.

With the extension of the metro line, the opening of HS2 Curzon Street Station and the introduction of new Sprint routes, the area will be one of the most connected parts of city and become a better area to live, work, study and visit.

Whilst work takes place, you may experience disruption to your journey. There will be changes to the way you travel to and from some parts of the city centre. Please plan ahead and  remember to check your journey regularly

Please check back regularly for the most up-to-date information.

Travel tips

You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:

Could you change the time of your journey?. Avoid travelling during peak times wherever possible. Plan ahead, check timetables or apps and leave more time for your journey as services will be busier.
If you work, speak to your employer. about whether there is any flexibility in your hours or if there are any times when you could avoid travelling altogether, such as working from home.
Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey. If you travel, you’ll need more time for your journey to take account of changes and diversions.
