What’s happening?

To carry out improvement works, Darlington Street in Wolverhampton will be closed from Sunday 19 January until July 2025 in both directions between its junctions with Ring Road/Chapel Ash Island and Waterloo Road/School Street.

Diversion:

  • Vehicles will be diverted via Ring Road and Waterloo Road.

Cyclists:

  • Cyclists will need to use footway as Darlington Road cycle lane will be closed between the junctions of Ring Road/Chapel Ash Island and Red Lion Street. 

Buses:

During this closure, two stops will be temporarily suspended near Fold Street Car park. Services will come into city via Salop Street; and services will exit the city via Waterloo Road and Ring Road.

  • National Express: Services 1, 3, 4, 10, 10A and 711
  • Arriva: Service 9
  • Select: Service 876
  • Banga: Service 891
  • Diamond: Service 63

Travel tips

You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:

Some bus stops are temporarily closed near Fold Street car park, Darlington Street. Familiarise yourself with stops; your closest stop may be a short walk away.
Although your stop may have been temporarily moved, all bus services are running. You can still get to where you need to go.
